I was born in The Whim, a small village in Tobago. My family relocated to Laventille, Trinidad when I was five years old.

As with typical Tobagonians, my siblings and I were sent back to Tobago on the first boat each vacation, to be with grandparents, aunts and uncles. As such we remained grounded in the values and teachings of our grandparents and steeped in their values of inclusion, empathy, hard work and pure and simple love. I grew up with a strong sense of purpose, caring and service!

Growing up in Laventille, I retained the connection with the common man and this ‘grounding with my brothers’ has shaped my curiosity of human life and experiences, widening the aperture through which I see the world – thus my idealism and pragmatism – and they both conflict at times. But then, isn’t our VUCA world one of significant contradictions? My art will reflect a focus on power politics and class dynamics.

I entered QRC and joined the photography club, was introduced to the dark room and enjoyed the chemistry and experimentation of developing film. My interest in photography then took a back seat to cricket, football, chess and debating, though the foundational learning remain.

After QRC, I entered UWI Mona, Jamaica and rekindled my love for photography through the influence of my physician whose office was adorned by his own work – lush, beautiful Jamaican landscapes and portraits. I did not own a camera so being active was sporadic, and only through borrowed cameras.

My academic career took me to the USA and several degrees best suited for the energy sector, where I still trade my experience. The global nature of that sector allowed me to work and travel extensively. The scenes and vistas across cultures shape my photography. Once I had the means to purchase my first high grade camera a Nikon F5 in 1997, I have not looked back.

Today, I still travel for work, and I spend much of my vacation or free time, with a camera in hand. I have created high impact pieces of art in several parts of the world. I am currently in the process of assembling 100 of my pieces into a collector’s coffee table book, titled “Cogitations, Reflection and Contemplations”. 2026 threatens to be a hectic year of adventure to capture more of the human experience (human-scapes) for inclusion in this maiden publication.
